March LAN - Battlefield 2 Organised Games

ok commanders / squad leaders / maps and start-times have been pretty much finalized. here are the details for the games to be played, and lists of squad leaders. please give an indication of which squad you want to be in and i'll update this post accordingly. otherwise you'll have to find a sqaud to jump into on the day.



map 1:
saturday 2pm
32 player Strike at Karkand - INFANTRY ONLY
each team plays one round as USMC and one round as MEC.

map 2:
sunday 2pm
32 player Dragon Valley (with vehicles)
each team plays one round as USMC and one round as China.

commanders toss a coin for which side they want to start each map on. screenshots of final team and individual scores and player awards taken and tallied up at the end.

My squad dibs whoring all vehicles and running over the enemy. Remember folks aircraft are the perfect thing to ram people with as if you miss the resultant explosion when you pummel into the ground should get them. :D

You all know I'm not great at BF2, I do have my moments though. I do enjoy the old BF2 action.

- Im new so non of you have seen me play
- I can only make the saturday

the more the merrier, thanatos =) i expect 99% of folk at the LAN will play one day or both, regardless if their name is in this thread or not. its not a case of 'sign up here or you dont get to play', this just helps with the organisation a little. the purpose for this sign-up thread is mainly just so people can pre-book squad slots if they particularly want to sqaud with mates or whatever, so (and this applies to DAve as well) im not going to just randomly put people into spare sqaud-slots until the day of the LAN.

ok, seeing as ru can only make the sunday, and thanatos can only make the saturday, ive had to rearrange charlie squad on team handsome. TK-Maximus is now the squad leader, and thanatos / ru will be squad members on their respective days.

Just to mess up all these wonderfully laid plans... i might be comin the whole weekend now. I should know by Thurs at the latest. Unless theres someone there on the Sat and not on the Sunday an i could jus jump round team but i think id prefer stayin in one if im there both days. cheers

lol well ok youre where you are both days if possible. just means you guys will be a 4-man squad on the sunday. there should be a couple 4 man squads in each team anyways, seems we'll have 20+ players

games seemed to go well, i think it was underestimated just how much of a BEAST greasel_burger is when it came to team-balancing, but you cant do much but applaud a 250 point round!!! well played to Pixies All-Stars for winning all 4 games, cheers to everyone who took part.

i dont know if people would like a repeat next LAN, or if off-the-cuff games are prefered? post opinions on that please

Repeat for sure, plus off the cuff games if anything. Greasel is a beast, but I have to say I'd much prefer to be against him than on his team, as I like a challenge and killing him is WAY too much of a rush. Really well organised Larry, bigup yo'self.

Yep. That first game I was following in his wake with shock paddles poised & leeching kills :P He wasn't all too hot in the second one mind.

Organised games > unplanned ones. I'd be good for removing 'random' BF2 altogether.

Tbh, with the pior planning, vent, sever stabilsation... if people are up for it at the time we will just keep going. Same teams, same squads, you name it.

Regardless, I had a blast.

I think it was a mistake on my part to go heli on that map... cant see the TV missle crosshairs against the sky!

Kudos to those two bastard chopper pilots, you took me down so many times! :lol:

I though every rounds was great fun and that most of the games were quite close in the score. I perticularly loved the Dragon Vally game where our chinese base was captured and my squad spend a solid 15mins assulting it and trying to take down Gor's squad, 2 ATs + 1 Medic Vs 2 APCs + 1 Medic (I think) = death all round.

I'd like to see another big organised game next time. Gj on the organisation Larry.
