Goldeneye Source Is Being Made As A Half-Life 2 Mod!
I have't been this happy since I saw the Starship troopers screenshots. No, really!

Now joining up for the forums to see if I can get hold of an alpha copy, beta testing is set to hit the interweb in the Fall (read:autumn) 2005.

Oh, the other mod I'm excited about is Antilion Troopers Deuce (http://antlions.hl2world.com/). Starship troopers, now in the HL2 universe.

Sounds awesome! Maybe it'll be out same time as I get the necessary upgrades. :-)

Oh yeah baby! This can only be good. Hope it's going to be better than the HL1 mod though, it sucked a fair bit of ass.

There is that Perfect Dark mod in the making too

pfft Perfect dark was a poor imitation on the original and best goldeneye. It was the Mario Kart 64 to SNES mario kart.

Rubbish! Have you actually played through PD? It's the best story-driven 1st person shooter for any console. Sorry Halo fan boys, it just don't cut it. :P

Goldeneye source has been released as an alpha build. 90 meg, I've not tried it yet though.

Ooh yes, tis pretty.

May be competition for "Best LAN Game" at the next LAN. Goldeneye Source? Or Source Forts? Wonder how the dedicated server thing works.. if there is one...

Hmmmm just had a quick run a round the maps. Feels very nice. They've slowed down your character movement I noticed, and they haven't put in an aiming system of any kind, but it sure does look good! It's had a lot of love put into it.

How can you say that Pixie? thats BLASPHEMING!!! you can have your nuts chopped off for saying such in some countrys! are your eyes painted on? Goldeneye is clearly the Daddy of console shooters, and the multiplayer is unchallenged by PD, or Halo, or even fun fun Smash Bro.s! Plus i rule at the game.

Don't worry, it'd fixed now. :P

I don't recall saying PD was a better multiplayer shooter, I just said it had a better single player. PD was wayyy to complicated for the poor N64 even with 2 players. Would normally get a frame rate of 3fps during multiplayer games, was quite hard to play. And thats before you added in bots.......

your right, i apologise, you wernt actualy mentioning PD multiplayer, i too think PD from what i saw of it, had a better story/interesting 1 player gameplay.

Yega and I gave it a go last night 1 vs 1 style. Is pretty good and I'm sure it'll be fun at the LAN but I wish they had included more weapons. Some of the animation is not great either, but it's beta! Gota start somewere right? Just hope they put in weapon choice of "Slappers Only"......

The GoldenEye: Source team has released the first beta, and it's pretty darn sweeet! Suck it and see. :D

Yes yes I know epic thread necromancy blah blah blah, I didn't want to start a new thread when I knew one existed somewhere.

It seems Goldeneye Source (http://goldeneyesource.net/) is nearing completion, with Beta 3 going Gold last Sunday and release (i.e. non-beta?) planned for Feb 7th. I've been keeping a vague eye on this for quite a while, any interest in getting a game going at the LAN? It's free so no excuses :-P

We already had a bash and I think it was ok but horribly buggy. If it is gold then maybe it will not be so bad. Better than Toblo anyway.

I'm wondering if this will end up being one of the "Official" mods that gets a proper Steam release like a few others have recently.
