AMD fails

You might remember a while back someone said that they were going to wait for AMDs reply to the Core 2 Duo and I said:

Officially, AMD’s new Quad FX platform isn’t AMD’s response to Intel’s quad-core Kentsfield CPU

but it does lay the groundwork for AMD’s next-generation K8 processor, codenamed Barcelona.

Since this isn't meant to be a response to the core duos, and the next generation processor probably will be, why treat this as if it's meant to be a response?

Fyndir, this is not a direct reply, ie thier next gen chip, but it is all they can throw at the competition. Currently they'd have to throw them at massively reduced prices to get me to even look at it.
