From CustomPC website (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/custompc/news/98791/nextgeneration-radeon-pictured.html) link to here (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fvga.zol.com.cn%2F46%2F468 342.html&langpair=zh-CN%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8).
Chinese site Zol has scooped some pictures of ATi's upcoming R600 GPU. As well as close-ups of the chip, Zol's images also show the R600 side-by-side with the R580, more commonly known as the Radeon X1950XTX

not exactly sure why we are supposed to be excited, we knew it was prefab a while back, so knowing they are sampling is hardly big news is it?

no, not especially. Just interesting they've completely missed the Christmas rush. Hopefully they'll get the new-year sales :D

they never intended on getting it out for crimble, they have tried this stratagy before with the 9800, it got them a 5% market share boost that they have not lost since so provided thier card trounces what ever Nvidia can get out for then and they can provide enough to retailers they are quite likely to take another large chunk out of nvidias market share. I'm pretty sure that folk will agree with me when I say the ATi hardware is mature and that its drivers are just as stable as nvidia, they still don't have the industry backing like Nvidia but that will come with market share. It's interesting to note that the latest 8800 GTX even in SLI sometimes does not beat the X1950 XTX in CF. And that ATi were first to market with stream processing.
The future is bright, the future is Matrox.
Probably not :)

Well I must admit, I'm already converted. Unless nVidia do something utterly amazing, I can't see me going back. Pure visual clarity ftw. :)
DX10 looks amazing, but is as slow as a hamster in a robin reliant that's just been wheelclamped.
CustomPC's article about DX10 with company of heroes (http://www.custompc.co.uk/?news/news_story.php?id=114753) and a comparison of framerates.
Summary: grass looks greener, but with AA enabled, you're looking at a slideshow. the X2900 fares better than most, but really we're looking at a year+ before we can get decent graphics at an afordable price. Mabe the next gen.

Heh, yeh. Been saying for ages that I'm not going to bother upgrading to Vista or my graphics for DX10 until it's solid.
I don't get why people are wanting the graphics card out atm, it's not like any of the big smile games are out yet as well.
