I know the LAN has been cancelled but I'll leave this thread up for comments etc.
Cheers

APOLOGIES TO EVERYONE WHO LOST POSTS, I FUCKED UP!
Please continue / restart discussion in this thread.
I messed up due to tabbed browsing and stupidity, I was going to delete the discussion that was in this thread and then move posts from the other thread over, instead they all got deleted, I was expecting the forum to treat each tab separately instead of jointly, so when I issued the delete command in one tab it also deleted the selected posts from the other tab.
Again, I apologise.

Is the Lan going ahead, and if so, will it be in the FF?
Useful information from other sources: IO have confirmed that they do have the food factory booked for their Ceildh. A Ceildh is a large affair and will reuire the use of the large sspace that we lan in at the far end of the FF.
Possible fall downs: It is not beyond the realms of possibility that when the FF was booked someone in the QM office put Pause in during the day Sat and Sun, and IO during the evening. This would make it a QM fault, not a Pause Committe fault. Does anyone know, or has anyone asked?

What about using the large meeting room upstairs in the QM? Is that within the realms of possibility? (The one where we got all the desks from)

Think some peeps were using that the last time (possibly STAG, they seemed to be doing theatre-type things?).

Ok, this seems to have gone on for a few days - has anyone poked the Secretary (Strings!) to go along to the QM? It's probably his job if nothing else.

One of the large rooms upstairs, Committee Room 1, is used by GUGS every Saturday. Not sure about the others.
But the sooner we get this solved the better, would like to know if the LAN dates are changing.

Yet again. I am posting with no news. I've been trying to get hold of the QM secretary all week with no success. Gary (da president) has been in but due to the fact that he doesn't normally deal with such things, he knows about as much as we do (apparently). It goes with out saying that the FF is now unavailable but I'm still trying to sort out whether there is an alternative in the QM. Failing that, I'm willing to hold a mini LAN which is not ideal but would certainly be better than nothing. Amusingly the SRC have contacted me with regards to the Williams Room, informing me that the dates I booked are "unavailable". They really are something.
I'm really sorry about that mix up here, I hope to have it all cleared up by Monday. I'll let you guys know ASAP.

Have we got any more info on the room situation?

Phill, quit hassling pixie, he's the only one on the comittee that seems to have tried to do anything (sorry fyndir, not aware of anything you've done to resolve the situation). The rest would appear to be washing thier hands of the situation. He'll post as soon as he's got something to say, as for the relative quietness of the other comittee members I'll take it as a sign they have nothing to add becuase they've done nothing to help.

I wasn't aware there was anything I COULD do since booking LANs seems to be the domain of the President and the Secretary, given that the QMU has already been contacted and as of Pixie's last message we were waiting to hear back from them what would you suggest that I, or Ru and Jan for that matter, could be doing to speed things up?
Hassling Pixie won't help, hassling the QMU won't help.
Pixie said he was expecting to have information today, so wait until tonight before you all start bitching anyone out over it, if indeed it is appropriate to bitch ANYONE out over it. =/

Isn't the LAN meant to be at the QMU? Isn't it the QMU who should be hassled for a mess-up in bookings?
Hassling the QMU will force them to make a decision, be it if they want us there or not.

They've already been contacted, contacting them repeatedly won't help at all if we're waiting on a specific person to get back to us (which is what I understand is happening currently), it would just irritate them needlessly. =/
