Hi again, and thanks to all that came along to the LAN last weekend. We got some great games in and the banter was excellent. :) A big thank you to all that helped with setup and packing up, it went much smoother this time and will be the standard that we should aim for in the future! The results of the tournaments were as follows:

Best Costume Winner!
Ches - Magic the Gathering Card
Despite not many of us dressing up, the efforts that were made were excellent. Ches won the yard of Jaffa cakes for her trouble, well done! (picture later!)

Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
Winner: In America
The Dawn of War tournament ended up with In America (Ru + Mogwai) vs. Sex Panthers (sid + gor) in another brutal final. Sid's attempted Space Marine rush on Mogwai's Necron base was a brave but ultimately suicidal move that decided the out come of the game. The fighting between gor's Space Marines and Ru's Chaos troops was relatively close but it was all over after Larry marched his Necron Warriors into Sid's base. In America have now won two times in row, who will challenge them?

Counter Strike: Source Gun Game Turbo!
Winners: LastChanceHotel and Muppet
The first game in gg_italy was a close match between LastChance and Muppet but LastChance eventually pulled ahead. The second game in gg_playground, Muppet pretty much pwned us all, just as he did throughout most of the CSS games!

Battlefield 2
Winners: The Red Team! (Mogwai's Team)
The pitched battle of Battlefield 2 was reasonably close with some good team work on both sides. However, chopper pwnage by a certain pair *cough, Iain + Larry* caused some problems for the Blue team. :p

Sourceforts
President vs. Ex-President - Draw
Due to some server problems this never got fully resolved and ended in a draw. Next month shall tell all!

Live For Speed S2 Rally
1st - Bluepixie, 2nd - YegaDoyai, 3rd - DAve
This was a heartstoppingly close race across the board with a full grid of 12 drivers. It was a 7 lap race with one pit stop so a certain amount of strategy was needed. I'll see if I can put the replay up later on! :D

There was also much playing of Hidden and Doom 3 LMS in the early hours and some games of 2142. Gotta love those big stompy mechs! Jan and Lewis made a rather large pile of green and pink bodies in Dawn of War, Larry got a shocking score of -11 in BF2, Pitt's TKing skills were challenged by Bad_Boy, several million people died as DAve, Pixie and Aaron started World War III, Pixie's (i.e. me) machine tried to die repeatedly but was saved by the Force Commander, goose stated god worthy banter and we got shelled by ned lit fireworks until the windows crackled.

Don't know about you, but I had a good time. Hope to see you all there at the next one in December!

Edit From Fyndir: Post here if you have feedback about this LAN and wish to make yourself heard about anything you particularly liked (or disliked). (http://www.pausegaming.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7572#post7572)

Cheers,

Niall :)

Dirty necron player - next time I'm gonna have done my homework on them and I'm gonna serve both your asses on a plate. :-D lol, good game.

Jan and Lewis made a rather large pile of green and pink bodies in Dawn of War.

Hehehehe, The replay of that battle has been save and I may try to upload it somewhere so everyone can enjoy the carnage.

Expect to see many pics from this in the sceenshot comp.

A note to everyone: Tau do not like to be on the receiving end of explosives.

Ehem.... I think behind our glourious leader Gingerloki we actually won after we were told you (Pixie) conceded defeat. If this is not the case I think we should be given it as we were winning and would have pounded the blues into the floor.

It was a joint decision to kill the game, as far as I remember.
The maps were going on for far too long and this coupled with the really short build/combat round time and the map where no-one could see what was going on prety much killed it stone dead for me.
Hopes for Sourceforts next time: standard timings, skyforts map, less organisation, more on-the-fly tactics.

I'm sure I contributed to the poor show of my team. I'm just not a commander. Sorry chaps.

You did a good job Dave. You let the subordinates take the flak. Most people were shouting at your second Strings. lol

NOT FINAL CONTENT

First game we won, second game was conceeded there was no third, hence the draw.

Regarding the lan, too much faffing about, probably too much drinking - I am as guilty as anyone else that did, but overall I think it would have been better if there had been a game organised during the 'social time' so it keeps the focus on the lan. I'd probbaly have spent the rest of the night in the bar had it been open till 6am.

Totaly gutted about not getting into the DoW final AGAIN. Super pissed that LFS decided to effectively give me a 10 sec stop go thus bringing me out behind pixie (from which he defended his position admirably for a deserved win). BF2 was both pleasing and painful and I prefer it to CSS so I did not miss out on CSS. Sourceforts was too haphazard, the maps chosen and round times lead to its early demise. Shame the UT:GOTY was played right when people had a hankering for DoW but that is the flow of a lan.

Suggestion for next lan, drop the chocolates for prizes, most folk bring enough junk food that they don't really want to win them. The yard of Jaffa Cakes was unique and interesting and had the prize been annouced earlier then more folk might have tried for the costume competition. As it was I saw no need as I figured all I'd win is a morrisons muffin or similar <- Specific derision aimed at low quality foodstuffs that I do not consider 'gift' or 'prize' worthy.

Tactics talks kill the momentum and spontinaity of a lan, lets NEVER do it again.

All over for now, I have a headache so I'm gonna watch some futurama and eat some food. Expect edits late.

Man, that's a spiffy T-Shirt. Where can I get one ;)

I'd be interested to see if there were any photos of the lot of us in our pausegaming t-shirts. They look great in squads.

Sorry, I'm just making up for a deficiency in myself. I'm taking medication and having therapy. Please don't hold it against me :(
