Hey all.

I've given in to the dark side, and I'm currently installing *shudder* Windows Server 2003 onto the gameserver. I'd wasted 5 hours of my life trying to figure out why LAN games weren't showing up in the Steam browser, and decided to cut my losses.

This means that I can now host a much wider variety of games - here's an incomplete list of everything I'm planning to install. If you have any suggestions, post them!

1. Counter-Strike: Source (public, 32 slot, autoteambalance off.)

2. Counter-Strike: Source GunGame Turbo (public, 32 slot, autoteambalance on?, Turbo gungame means instant leveling)

3. Source Forts (public, 32 slot, autoteambalance off. )

4. 2x The Hidden (public, 8 slots, autoteambalance off. Pretty bog standard. Only 8 slots as it's in the nature of the game. Will probably run two.)

5. Battlefield 2 (public, 64 slots, will probably only have 32 player maps running but we'll see. Running a decent maplist. Maybe add voting. All unlocks!)

6. Live for Speed (public, a whole bunch of slots)

7. Battlefield 2142 server (probably with everything unlocked

The fileserver will be up, in all its gigabit-saturating RAIDed goodness again. This time downgraded(!) to windows 32-bit! Oh the humanity!

I'm going to be running HLSW (source server remote administration interface) and BF2CC (battlefield 2 command and control), for added leetness. Windows box will have remote desktop running, so any noob can admin it in my absence. *points at Fyndir*

I also think I'll be making the game server hand out IPs, as windows 2003 makes it unbelievably simple to do so. I will also investigate the possibility of sharing the Internet through it too.

Long story short, this should be a lot better this time around!

2. Counter-Strike: Source GunGame Turbo (public, 32 slot, autoteambalance on?, Manimod with voting and admins able to move players. Turbo gungame means instant leveling)

3. Source Forts (public, 32 slot, autoteambalance off. Probably mani as well, but voting+moving only as normal)

4. 2x The Hidden (public, 8 slots, autoteambalance off. Pretty bog standard. Only 8 slots as it's in the nature of the game. Will probably run two.)

5. Battlefield 2 (public, 64 slots, will probably only have 32 player maps running but we'll see. Running a decent maplist. Maybe add voting. All unlocks!)

6. Quake 4 (public, 16 slots - maybe more. maplist.)

7. Quake 3 (public, 16 slots - maybe more. mainly for Pixie and Ru :D)

8. Live for Speed (public, a whole bunch of slots)

No mani mod for anything.
Don't need Quake 3 or Quake 4 servers.
Apart from that, looks good.

Should I install Battlefield 2142 demo too, or should I presume everyone has the 'full game'? ;)

Dumped Q3 and Q4, I had a few requests for them last time so I included them. They're gone now.

I'm not sure I want to connect to a network that has BF2142 on it ;-)

Seriously, though, good job, Jan. Server admin is a thankless task, so thanks.
