What would be good to put on the freshers' week CD / membership card?
Obviously contact details / website / phone no on the (printed) outside.
Inside:
A local copy of the website
replays / screenshots / pics / FMV of the lan
programs? Firefox / thunderbird /
Demos / Full game? Enemy Territory is 250 meg.
Mods? hl2:ctf is 160 meg.

ET sounds like a good idea rather than HL2:CTF mod I think..
Shove a lovely optimised version of Firefox on there.
And all the rest but put a .pdf of what always needed to be brought to a LAN. Headphones, Mouse, Keyboard etc etc Cuz for first timers, the whole thing can be a bit daunting. Ive seen people turn up with modems, firewall hardware and 5.1 speakers... :?

Obviously HL2:CTF is way cooler than Enemy Territory, but giving away mods which you can only play if you have the full game doesn't seem like a good idea.
Replay footage would be cool. I was at a site which served CS replays, editted to music. If you want I'll find it for you.

I think there should be a copy of "N" on there aswell. Unpacked and ready to go, so they can just run the game of the CD. Hours of fun!

Maybe some other old games that are now freeware. Just for the hell of it really. Doom shareware maybe!
On the apps side maybe Trillian, AVG free, GIMP, DriverCleaner Pro

AVG free is a class idea. Perhaps shove on a popular CS:S source vid like the JDSource one.
Edit: The JDSource vid is insane. Would have to show you guys on me laptop.

Cheers for all the progs. I've left most of them on download.
There's a few I want to include (Context, and some other stuff that's slipping my mind right now)
So far that's 420 meg, on top of the 50 meg of the replays and Wolf:ET at 250 meg, we should just about fit this on a CD. Somehow.
To bed now, cheers again.

Yeah; I started grabbing links for Pure Pwnage, then it suddenly dawned on me it was a cd, not a dvd.

Arse, not enough room for JDSource. Poo.
Also, need to do a CD cover.
The freshers CD is done, can I get some help to burn CD's please?
I'm looking at burning 100 of them which might take a few hours. If we all take a few CD's it will be much easier to complete. Can anyone take a few CD's? (obviously, I'll reimburse you for the CD's used :)

Currently downloading, will start burning discs in about 5 hours time.
How many discs are we looking at doing?
DAve

100 would be a sensible maximum. We got 70 members last year without really trying. I think freebies will take it to the 100 mark.
If you could do 20 Exuus, and give me a message after that (I'll be in tonight and tomorrow) that would be great.
