From the BBC website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4137782.stm) and Weeble (http://www.livejournal.com/users/clockworksaint/16101.html):

A South Korean man has died after reportedly playing an online computer game for 50 hours with few breaks.
The 28-year-old man collapsed after playing the game Starcraft at an internet cafe in the city of Taegu, according to South Korean authorities.
He was in an internet cafe? Didn't someone think of telling him he needed a break?

No doubt the medics that should have saved him had all charged off to the other side of the city chasing someone with a nosebleed.
Yeah, I'm sure someone will post the replay online in a few hours.

It's a real shame. To think that he'll be remembered as,

"that guy that played Starcraft to death"

His poor family, if he still knew them.

Starcraft in korea is totally different, some pro players make a mint over there is unbelivable, is like every starcraft players dream to make it as a PRO over there ^^.

Yeah but is stupid playing for that long >.<.

Yeah, so I basically labelled you and Raymond as Koreans after the first LAN you were at... Purely based on your SC skill, mind you :)

Man, that guy beats my endurance record by a fair bit! Most I've ever done is a 18hr stint of the fantastic CivNet on the old 120MHz Packard Bell ( before you guys say anything I did not choose the comp but what can you do when parents are paying) I was younger then and could get away with staying up later without devastating consequences, such as not being able to move out of bed in the morning.

Never gone till my eyes hurt. I'm supposed to be photoepileptic and still I don't listen to the warnings.

you're supposed to be? Like you have an option in the matter?

'I'm sorry sir you have a terminal cancer'

"Err, nah, I can't be arsed with that. Thanks anyway"

'...'

Who said you have to be photoepileptic? Maybe they were just messing with your head.

/Sorry I'm feeling a touch weird today

Don't worry, we do have breaks. You know, sleep, climb the walls, hit each other with sticks, chainsaws....

On a totally different topic, completely un-related to the above, is anyone a quialified first aider?

The nearest I've got is the ability to dial 999 on a mobile.

I've watched a lot of E.R.

Jake and Abby examine Sam from American Dreams. Apparently, he has a thyroid condition, which can cause glaucoma, so Jake is going to test Sam's eye pressure or something. Jake gives Sam an eye drop, and then prepares to touch his eyeball with some sort of giant Q-tip or something. As Jake is touching, Chuny walks in and interrupts, which I think makes Jake poke a little too hard, which causes Sam to start coughing, which causes HIS EYEBALL TO POP OUT OF ITS SOCKET! Sam is like, "Did my eyeball come out?" which is a question I hope to never have to ask or answer. Abby remains calm throughout, even though monitors are beeping and eyeballs are dangling. Sam is thrashing all around, which can't be helping matters any, and Chuny runs off to find Luka.

Luka asks for a paper clip...

Dunno if you guys haven't heard, but TWoP (http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/story.cgi?show=1&story=7852&page=11&sort=&limit=) rules.

Well I did a CPR course for my scouts but that was some time ago. My mum could teach me (she is trained in the mystic art of healing). Other than that with my dad being Diabetic and Eppileptic my Mum being asmatic
I know the general stuff for when the shit hits the fan. Do you get your members to declare illness before they come to a lan meet?

Nope. I've always been relying on the fact we are 20 yards away from the guard hut at the uni.

It's something to think about anyway. I would hope that if there were anyone that did have any serious health complaints, they would have said something to the committee / someone at the LANs before now.

Well I've got my St. John's Ambulance 3 cross award twice. That count? Technically they're not valid for some strange reason to do with time elapsed but I know the basics.

'Oh, I've got a feeling it'll stick'

I'm terminally alergic to starcraft. I've done various first aid courses as well but since they all last for only a year I'm not qualified anymore.

YegaDoyai

I'll raise you a cry of "OK lets F*$king play CS again! Just not this honkey pile of doodoo that I suck completely at because the last RTS I played was Warcraft2."
