As some of you know, my computer went *BANG!* recently. Because of this, I need a new system. I was looking at this:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ (AM2)
MSI K9A Platinum Crossfire
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz DDR2
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower
Artic Cooling Accelero X2 Cooler
Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case
Tagan TG530-U15 530W Silent PSU

What does everyone think?

Get custom PC! [/plug]

Have you looked at the Core Duo? They're surprising value for money, and might beat the 4200+ (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=4843&page=3) in a fight (depending on a lot of things).

Right, the damage is done. :D

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz DDR2
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower
Antec P180 Advanced Super Midi Tower Case
Tagan TG530-U15 530W Silent PSU

Now, to build and it and run Super Pi

Aw man, can I have one, but not have to see (or pay) the bill for it.

Really nice system, there.

Now, to build and it and run Super Pi

Eek... with some mild overclocking you should be able to get around 17s with that.

Nice one, that's going to be a killer.

Sweepstakes:

I think the Exxus' new SuperPi benchmark will be:
23 seconds.

I've seen guys running overclocked 6600 conroes getting 9 seconds. :D

with the mem you got then your OC headroom is limited as I said. Sid seems to know his stuff so I'll go with his estimate for the pi time. The real kicker is the X1900XT that thing FLYS.

Yeah, the Geil PC6400 stuff I'd recommended would've been great for pushing your system albeit more expensive. Regardless, I'd be surprised if this doesn't break 20s quite easily.

Good luck!

Still don't have it yet. Overclockers are now officially the worst company I've ever had to deal with.

I've never had anything but good experiences with overclockers.

What's happening?
