View Full Version : AGM - new committee needed
Dear all,
GUNS is holding its AGM (Annual general meeting) on the Saturday the 3rd of June (time:TBA) - the first day of the LAN - and needs a new committee. The positions open are
* President
* Secretary
* Treasurer
* Server admin
* OCM (Ordinary committee member)
A description of the posts is up on the wiki: Committee Posts page (http://guns.snakebomb.com/wiki/Committee_Posts)
The rules that govern the AGM election are in the wiki page Constitution page (http://guns.snakebomb.com/wiki/Constitution#ANNUAL_GENERAL_MEETINGS)
To stand for a post, you need to be a member of the club. Please submit your intention to stand for the post along with a seconder. This can be on this forum page, or by direct email to the bluepixie@okaar.com club secretary.
Since this is the first time we're holding an AGM, we'll probably have to feel our way through most of the proceedings. We will stick as close to the rules as possible though, with some relaxations - nominations can be made on the day.
If you can't make it to the AGM, and want to stand for a post, you can put in a nomination to stand. See the constitution for details.
I look forward to handing over power to the next president in two weeks time.

GUNS President (not for much longer!)
To make things clear, I'm still going to be around the club and I can lend a hand if needed. I'm still going to be coming to LANs and still look forward to them.
However, I feel as if I'm too old for the club, I'm getting on in terms of being a student, and probably don't reflect the club age too closely ;)
I'm running out of time to get things written up for my PhD and can't devote the time to the club that I once could.
I think the club is stable enough, and will be self sustaining (in truth, it has been for the past 6 months, I just haven't got around to calling an AGM). The democratic process has been put off for too long. It's time for you, the membership to decide where you want the club to go.
I'm sure that the new committee will do a great job, we've got some devoted members and the hard core of the lanners will make sure that the club survives.
See you at the AGM, everyone.

Seconded, I doubt I'll stand for any positions unless any of you think I'd be particularly suited to one of them, but I'll be on hand to assist any way that I can and any way that you need me.

I'm interested in the "server admin" post, unless somebody else has their eye on it?
I've been doing a bunch of work on BF2, CS and Hidden/garrysmod servers lately, and think I could help out in that respect. I'm also interested in working through the "Internet Access" situation with computing services.
Thoughts? Other people who want the post?

That sounds like a good description of the OCM post ;) Do you want to stand?

Sounds like you've got a good working knowledge of the servers then, excellent.
We could really use the 'net access issue being resolved too. Fantastic.

That's not how a democracy works :)
If you want the post, then stand for it. If someone else thinks they can do the job too, then they will stand. Healthy competition ensures a healthy club!

When does everyone think a good time for the meeting would be?
I was thinking either in the morning when everyone first arrives, or when we stop for food in the evening? Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry Jan, I meant Server Admin. Ah well.

Jan wants the server admin position, not an OCM position. And I second him for that position.

I'd much rather have the chance to do some good as a server admin rather than an OCM.
I'm going to try standing for the server admin post :)

If anyone thinks I'd be useful for the position then yes, I'll stand.

I think whenever the most people are there would be best. Probably after dinner would be OK, it's the least interuption to gaming as well.

If anyone thinks I'd be useful for the position(OCM) then yes, I'll stand.
Cheers, guys :)
