In light of the GUNS defeat at the weekend, I was thinking of getting this thread going again. If Strings could maybe be added to the list of people able to look at this site? Apperently I can do it, but I don't know how!

Personally, dust_2 is the map I need to work on, we really got hammered. I felt that once the orginal plan was busted I really didn't know what I was doing when playing CT. What is the best way to rush B after the member guarding it has been killed? Was never quite sure how to do it. Flashing etc is good but any tips are good. I know one actually, never go up to the top wall entrance! You get smegged before you can sneeze, unless you flash first I guess....

You are the moderator of the "tactics" group, bluepixie, look here to add names to that.

Aparently there's HDR enabled in this now, does it look any better?

Cheers DAve, I've added a few people to the list now. :)

I think it's just dust they've added HDR to, but I'm not positive. I have HDR off now to try and keep the old FPS up.

considering we had one evenings practice, and you or iain hadnt played a match before ( i dont think?) , we did well enough, at the same time we kept it ridiculously simple. no waiting / walking / listening , no rotating between sites, no splitting up. theres a huge amout of little details as well like where ot stand, where to nade, that only come with endless hours of practice.

it showed against the 'pr0' team who knew exactly what they were doing, but against the other 2 we were comfortable against one and had a close game with the other. (remember to re-bind 'use' key... remember to re-bind 'use' key...)

i certainly would be up for taking CS a bit more seriously within GUNS though, even if its a while ot the next such event id really want to go back and give it another go.

I've just posted in the smegging GUNS section.. but perhaps I can be more explicit.

Considering the strengths that we have, as players. Perhaps with a few scrims at upcoming LANs more teamwork and practise can get done.

Like everyone versus me, Niall, Ian and Mogwai.

Something like that.

If you want I can make a thread on this forum for each map that tends to get played. I'm no expert.. but every little helps.

ok, Ru, DAve, Exuus, Viper. The glove has truely been slapped in our faces. They reckon they can take us with all the other other riff raff. I say we take them on at there own game. Lets fuck them up. Fisting time.

(gor, sid you have been excluded as I doubt they reckon they could honestly learn anything by getting hammered by all of us all the time.)

And we will hammer you, oh yes.

:)

 aye!

Yeah, I'd never played a proper match before. Didn't realise it would be sooo intense! I'm totally up for taking our CS:S level as a team up. Those Skoljopkarnamanga fuck heads haven't see the last of us!

Ah, really needed to get that out of my system. :)

Yip good call on the map thread Strings, that would be great. Maybe start arranging practice sessions aswell? Maybe not too many during exam time but come June, I'm well up for it.

I think we could do really well as a team if we put some time in. :)

They probably can at CS:S.

We're still teh Windsor at LFS.

(how much for an orbital nuke in CS:S?)

lol thats harsh. they were very well prepared, obviously very good at the game to begin with, and do seem like decent types. but yah CS at a higher level is very intense, but also very fun. we definitely have the basic skill amongst several players, its just the team/tactics aspect that some of us need to work on and others, well, need to start from scratch on. being the savage gamers that we are though, should be like ducks to water.

Who are TBE? Sorry, not been on the forums much recently and missed all this. You guys organising a GUNS CS team or something? I'd be interested in helping out in some way even if you've already got 5 set for the actual team.

TBE were a clan whos public server we used to all play on ages ago, and we had arranged a match with them back then, so the thread title is a little misleading / out of date. but yeah the intention seems to be to get a team going, trying to get as many people involved as possible after the microplay 3v3 sparked interest.

Cool, sounds good. Well I'd be happy to help out with tactics / managing + playing too, of course if you need me (although i haven't played much in months and my game is a bit off). The maps I know best are dust2 and nuke, really - could help out lots there. g0r and myself have spent many hours at the pub working out tactics for those 2 in particular. Aztec isn't normally played for officials, though.

I've been up all night watching CS demos and playing with my new dual monitor setup, lol. It's 6am and I better go to bed, lol.

I have managed and led a few skilled 1.6 clans in my time. So I am willing to help out where I can. I have a few friends that can help with a server to borrow aswel.

Admittedly not all 1.6 knowledge is transferable to source, so Im just as eager to learn the inns and outs as the rest of you.

Excellent! I'm glad that you guys are up for this. I wouldn't worry about who is actually in the team. It will be great to have a large number of us, lets us be more flexable. Suppose we can focus on map tactics and play pratice matches were we can for the momment. I know that some of you don't have exams and stuff to worry about at the momment so don't let us hold you back! :)
