Hi all,
We have had to change the lan format slightly this time around - there are things you MUST KNOW if you are coming to the lan next weekend.
<ul> We can not stay past 1am in the room on Saturday night. You can leave your PCs there, but they will be at your own risk. You MUST SIGN UP for the lans from now on. Either by replying to the Lan email (out soon) with "yes" (LAN@gunsoc.org.uk?subject=I%20am%20coming%20to%20 the5th%20%20LAN) or adding your name to the wiki signup page (http://guns.snakebomb.com/wiki/5th_LAN_of_05-06).
This is because we had 30 people at the last lan; just about as many people as the Williams room could fit. Had we known about this before, we could have set the room up to fit everyone first time around instead of wasting valuable gaming time jiggling tables.
If there are more than 30 people sign up, then we can book a bigger room, but we HAVE to know about this - we really don't want to turn anyone away from a packed lan because we have no space. This won't happen if EVERYONE signs up.
It was a great LAN last time, we had some fantastic games of BF2 with 20+ people in, some great CS games, and a massive track outing in LiveForSpeed and some great Dawn of War games and Starcraft sessions.
30 player lans are more fun than 20 player lans, definitely!
When's the next one, I hear you cry?
Lans are always held on the first weekend of every month, so the next few are:
<ul> 5th LAN: 4th and 5th of March 2006 6th LAN: 1st and 2nd April 2006 (yes, we know it's april fools' day)
Stick the dates in your diary.
We may have a limited (i.e. crippled) net connection at the lan - there are rumours of a wireless network somewhere in the John McIntyre building - can anyone with a laptop and a VPN connection to the university confirm this?
See you next weekend
