View Full Version : 5th LAN of 05-06: dates confirmed

Hi all,

The date for the 5th lan of 2005-06 has been set. It's going to be on the 4th and 5th of March 2006.

We have got our knuckles rapped by the SRC, the guards have complained about people continually asking to be let into the building. As a result, we have been told in no uncertain terms, we can not stay in the room past 1am in the morning on Saturday. Sorry, it's beyond our control. We're trying to find out exactly why we have been denied this, but until we officially hear back, we have to play by the rules.

As we are not allowed to stay in the room past 1am, people who need to store their PCs in the room do so at their own risk.

The times for this LAN will therefore be:
Saturday the 4th of March: 10am -> 1am
Sunday the 5th of March: 10am -> 10pm

That doesn't make any sense though, seriously, I can't think of ANYONE who's leaving and coming back between 1am and 10am. =/

Also from what the guards told me they just wanted us to start phoning each other instead of bothering them, and agreed with me that it was too late to set anything up for last LAN but that we should try and organise it for the next one. =/

Bloody arseholes. What are the guards there for then? Arg. Talk to you more on Wednesday about this. Seems to me we've had this conversation already...

Probably the Supervisor that gave me a ton of hassle on Friday night that sturred this up. I suppose, they really don't have anything better to do.

To be honest I don't think they'd notice if we stayed longer. Just noone leave after !. Sorted.

Can we have some kind of GUNS meeting tonight? I don't think I'm going bowling... so before you do that, or we could meet up at the QM later, or something?

can you put a minor edit in this, just making it clear that people will be unable to stay overnight, and if they are leaving machines it's at their own risk?

I can't make it anyway, so meh.

If I turn up for a few hours on the Saturday with my crummy laptop, is there likely to be anything I can play? I can more or less run regular Counterstrike, regular Half-life and Starcraft. Or do I need to hold out until I get a new laptop? (I currently have my heart set on a Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet. Not a great gaming machine, but a damn sight better than what I have, and should be fun for drawing on.)
