And good day.

Cant seem to get this to work in the computing labs. But it certainly works at home lol... will copy and paste the article/post. Its absolutely hilarious. You may have heard of this before.. but I cant see how this novelty can wear off.

Article below.
Check it out, its class.

Ok i was reading this article in the times this morning at 6th form,

heres an extract:

"I Googled my way into spreadsheets, passwords and a printer which warned that it was out of ink"

How easy to find them? First let's take a peek through some poorly secured webcams. Do a google search for the phrase inurl:"axis-cgi/mjpg" -exactly as punctauated, and you'll find thousands of live images from shopping mall security cams to petrol stations.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=inurl%3A%22axis-cgi%2Fmjpg%22&btnG=Search&meta

Next fancy printing a few test pages on someones office photocopier? A search for the phrase intitle:" Home" "Xerox Corporation" "Refresh Status" brings up a dozen networked copiers which offer the mischevious option of a print button.

Edit: LMAO, just got some primary school in America to print off a word document saying "Spam Spam Spam Spam etc etc"

Ach.. this printer isnt secure at all... I could lock the institution out of it or at least make it very difficult for them to use it.

Obviously I wont.. but still... cant underestimate google.

You should be careful though: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/11/tsunami_hacker_followup/
Apprently, if you go to a web page by typing it's address, without following a manually created link to that page, you are committing a crime. Yeah, I dunno either. This is actually too ridiculous, and unfortunately too true.
Cheer up everyone - if you want a job in network security, it's really simple: just leave as many holes open as you want, and make sure your company prosecutes anyone who finds them.

Quite a few of the printer pages have passwords... thats where the admins actually have more braincells than teeth

In principle this sounds hilarious but I can’t view any of the files, explorer just keeps asking me to download a video file.

Do I need a player or a viewer or something??

Sorry if this is a dumb question :)

You need to download a web browser. Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/) or Opera (http://www.opera.com/) for example.

Ah got ya, so in other words if I was using anything bar windows internet explorer it would have worked.

One to try at home I think, I should probably get back to what they are paying me for then ;)
