SRC Grant Collected

Gor and I went along today to the SRC building to collect the SRC grant for being affiliated with them.

We continue to be affiliated with the SRC which entitles us to things like minibus hire, William's room hire, fresher's fair stand etc.

Our cheque was for £144.92 which will go directly into Pause funds.

Spending for this money and the rest of the balance carried forward from last year is yet to be decided, although a new server is something that is being considered quite seriously.

Do we ever actually use minibus hire? It would probably be handy for giving lifts, but I seem to remember there are pretty strict requirements for being allowed to actually drive the SRC minibuses. For a start I think you need an old driver's licence because of changes in DVLA regulations, but more than that I think you need a clean license, which rules me out since the f00kin traffic cops gave me 3 points a while back. Soz for the slightly off topic post, good news on the grant neways :-)

Be 21, clean license and have an old license and/or done ur minibus test thing (srs do these at the start of the year I think)

Thats just what I remember from the sports clubs tryin to recruit people to get their minibus license at the start of the year.

Minibus is something that we've always tried to look into for the club - it'd save our loyal drivers having to do loads of runs (although that's not been too much a problem this year, I don't think). The problem has always been finding the drivers eligible for the SRC requirements.

We need 2 drivers per event and each driver needs to be 21 or over and held a license for at least 2 years. They also need to be a current member of Glasgow University.

DAve is eligible.
YcMing is eligible.
gor would be but goes to Strathclyde.
Strings would be but doesn't go to Glasgow anymore.
Cannon_Fodda would be but isn't at Glasgow anymore (I think).

I intend to write to the SRC to ask if a Strathclyde student would be acceptable given he meets the age requirement, has been driving for over 3 years and is our secretary!

I'm not going to be a student this coming academic year, still not sure about when I'll be graduating either.
