Welcome to round 1 of the DoW round robin tournament!

All fixtures can be found over at: http://www.pausegaming.com/tournament/disp_tournament.php?id=1

This rounds map is: Quests Triumph

Servers will be hosted by the HOME player and MUST have these settings:

Settings:

- Win Conditions: Annihilate, Control Area, Take and hold
- Starting Resource: Standard
- Lock Teams: Yes
- Enable Cheats: No
- Starting Location: Random
- Game Speed: Normal
- Resource Sharing: No
- Resource Rate: Standard

All servers can be found in the Hamachi channel 'DoWtourney' with password 'Pause'.

Before Match

All games played in that round must be played on the specified map. Before you play your first game of the round you must PM/mail an admin (mogwai, sideshow or muppet) with the race you intend to play in the first game of that round. In game 2 the winner of game 1 will choose race first, and if it goes to game 3 then the winner of game 2 chooses first. You do not need to play game 3 if the first two games are decisive, but you may if you wish.

After Match

After you have finished the round the winner must post the scores and a zip/rar of the replays in this thread. Scores WILL NOT COUNT without accompanying replays.

Replays can be upload here: http://www.pausegaming.com/tournament/upload/index.php?dir=demos%2Fdow_league_1%2Fround01%2F

I'm gonna get creamed because I suck at the game. =D

I should be free on Sunday. I'll give you a PM for exact timage.

My brave polecats shall fight a bitter fight against the academically minded mutts...and probably just all die in the process.

The polecats won't be without sympathy. Believe that, my friend.

I'm meant to play this Sideshow noob?

Anyone ever heard of him?

I bet he sucks.

I predict a 3 - 0 victory for the mighty Fyndir Orks. >=(

Also, yeah, I'll PM Mr. Show over the weekend when I have time. =P

In fact...can I just PM Sideshow all the details on what race and stuff I'm using rather than PM a different admin? =P

Game1 (http://www.pausegaming.com/tournament/upload/demos/2P_QUESTS_TRIUMPH.2007-07-01.21-13-50.rec)
Game2 (http://www.pausegaming.com/tournament/upload/demos/2P_QUESTS_TRIUMPH.2007-07-01.21-49-36.rec)

Both games are decent enough to bother watching.

Scores added.

Uploader seems to work fine. Just make sure you're uploading into the demos folder.

Can we get some razor sharp witty after match comments?

Something along the lines of "I space marined your ass" would be just fine.

Sideshow

Gah, Demos folder. Can we have a subfolder called DoWLeague or something? And can we have the link in the instruction point straight at it?

Sideshow
3rd July 2007, 18:51
More minor nitpicking:

Can we have a folder tree for uploads like:

demos/
----DoWLeague1/
--------Round 1/
--------Round 2/
--------etc...

Style sheet for the tourney site:
the <- win | loss -> indicators aren't fitting on one line like they should
can we ditch the red/blue 1/2 indicators? I don't think we need home/away anyway, and they are uglier than sin (as well as vastly distracting).

I don't intend on keeping this site for tournaments - it's shite, so won't be touching anything with it sadly.

And the colours and crap are hard coded into one of the pages somewhere.

Yeah, I just had a look at it and cried.

This is somewhat off topic but it didn't really to warrant it's own thread, are we gonna adopt the same replays thing for the Worms tournament if/when it happens? I have no idea if you can actually save replays on Worms Armageddon...

Strings
3rd July 2007, 20:29
Nah, doubt we'll need to. And if we do, FRAPS would be easy enough to use.

Octavion
3rd July 2007, 22:09
It seems to not want to upload the replays right now, I'll try again tomorrow.

Anyway, score was Gor 2 - Me 0

Got some good tips of Gor, i.e don't forget to build listening posts, so hopefully I'll do better next round.

Edit: Replays be here (http://www.pausegaming.com/tournament/upload/demos/dow_league_1/round01/Round1%20Oct%20Vs%20Gor.rar).

I still havn't played my games, which I attribute to being my fault. Was the site down?

yea the site was down, its only your match still to be played i think. but due to the site being down the round will be extended a few days, so try and contact your opponent to arrange it soon.

A few questions - can people play their games for later rounds whenever they can, or should we wait until each round is finished before progressing to the next set of games?

Also, have the maps been decided for round 3 and onwards?

ideally it would be a wait for everyone to have finished from the previous round, but theres been a bit of delay due to the forums being down etc.

round 2 has now started, even though round 1 isnt complete for example... you can 'catch up' on old games within reason, but the new rounds cant be played until maps are selected/announced, and that will only happen evey few days, to give admins time to collect results and PMs on what races people will play in the next round, while keeping th eleague moving at a reasonable pace. also to make sure noone ends up with an unreasonable back-log of games, also to keep the games meaningful with regard to points and league position.

maps for round 3 onwards havnt been decided, they're randomly chosen at the start of each round, and will be posted when the round starts.

We have a program which chooses the maps for each round. Right now every round's map has been fixed, but no-one knows what they are yet. I only look at each new map as that round starts.
