Whoops, that was totally my fault, I forgot to lock the posts there.
Starcraft will be available for the ladders, I'm sure that it will be a popular choice too :)

Hey HEY EXUUS, don't try to stop someone from playing an intelligent game :P, just because i hard, doesn't mean is not fun ^^ :)

You're a disgrace!

Well yega, i guess you can say it both way. I just prefer games that is challenging.
If that is ok with you ~~~~. But i guess there are always more people into FPS a the lan party, cos is fast and quick fun :)

Try a simulation if you want a challenge, bring on the Grand Prix Legends ladder or shall I decree myself king now and forever hold my peace?
Flight sims anyone?
A challenge is where you look for it. Try beating Pixie 1 on 1 in Q3 you don't need a steeper challenge than that.
I was merely indicating that your justification is flawed, as is your retort for virtualy the same reason.
Please do not try to justify playing one game over another because of any other reason than thats the kind of game you like. I respect people who do things because that's what they like, I don't respect people that try to claim thier game is more cerebral than other games.
<Preemptive strike>
Note to DAve: Yes this is getting close to a flame, I will try to ensure that it does not but we are all supposed to be capable of intelligent discussion so let's see where it goes eh?

Ming watching you play Starcraft actually made my head spin. I think you play that faster than I play any FPS game :)

Well, that's a bit silly. Unless you are claiming that FPS require the same amount of though and planmning as RTS. Which would be a bit silly. Not that I'm saying that they require no thought at all - a lot of counter-strike is tactics and outguessing your opponent (which is why I get so pissed of when I've correctly out-thought my opponent, got into an ambush spot to end them, and then have Niall cheat blatantly with the spectator cam and warn his team mate. I digress). But the example you gave was Q3, possibly the most dumbed-down, hyper-accentuated-on-reflexs deathmatch FPS you can get. It's designed to require no thought.
In short, there's nothing wrong with saying you prefer games which require you to think more, and it is inaccurate to say that FPS in general require the same amount of thinking as RTS.

I still belive that I can out think and beat pixie at Q3, just takes time and practice.

19th October 2005, 20:21
OK. How?
Strings

I agree with Sideshow on the "OK How?"
Because Pixie simply destroys everyone at Q3 :P

Sorry didn't know you, did not realise what i said is just my personal opinions and i have never even try to make you believe sc is a better a game, only in my eyes...
now that makes more sense ;)
Don't know why there are always RTS VS FPS all the time :P:P
But comes time to it, no point arguing over something that will have no single outcome, is really down to personal choice, so i do respect for what ever you guys like :).

Well I’m glad that's sorted. :D
It's interesting that these sorts of things happen and I'm glad that "we" as a group can cope with it. Yay for civilized beings! There will always be sides, even in game choice and we all have our own game specialties.
Bluepixie - Quake III
Ming - Starcraft
Strings - Jedi Academy (well you did own us)
Mogwai - CS
YegaDoyai - Every racing game know to man (and hamster)
Exuus - BF2 (with the M82 mind)
etc etc etc
One of the great things about our group is that there is a pretty good variety in the games. Meaning that we have a good ramp in experiance/skill area from n00bs to crazy people. Which is handy, as no one gets left out.
Anyway, enough of that.
We going to have a CS: Source 2v2 match?
Bluepixie Sideshow
YegaDoyai Vs Mogwai
?
Some 1v1 HL2DM and Q3 matches?
Sideshow

Hold on - how come I get saddled with you? Didn't I already shotgun Mogwai?

Anyone noticed that smaller people are good at games? I think it's biological.
Less space between neurones, increases reaction times.
