We've got a superpi benchmark (http://www.pausegaming.com/forum/showthread.php?t=341&highlight=superpi) up on the forums roughly benchmarking the processor and memory, but I would be very interested to see the 3dmark of your gaming rigs.

If it's possible to tie this up with the previous superpi benchmarks that would be even better - if possible :)

Name --- Superpi score --- 3DMARK 03 (http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark03/) --- 3DMARK 05 (http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark05/) --- 3DMARK 06 (http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/) --- GFX card
DAve --- 50.674 --- 7652 --- 2357 --- 951

(Note: 3dmark 03 is around 170 meg, 3dmark 05 is 280 meg, 3dmark 06 is around 580 meg. I'm downloading it now.)

It's not entirely a selfless post, I've bought Stalker and am seriously considering another graphics card upgrade. The old question of whether to upgrade now, or wait a little while till my card is really obsolete and spend twice as much.
I'd like to see a little science thrown into this end of the equation.

It's not entirely a selfless post, I've bought Stalker and am seriously considering another graphics card upgrade. The old question of whether to upgrade now, or wait a little while till my card is really obsolete and spend twice as much.

Well, here's a quick rundown (not related to 3dmark):

1. Are you on AGP?
2. Are you on socket 939?
3. Are you looking to upgrade your processor within the next 6 months?

If you're on AGP and not on a 939 procesor, go buy a shiny AGP card up to the value of £200 or so. It'll be obsolete by the time you break your machine for parts, and you might get £50-60 for it.

If you're on AGP and have a socket 939 processor, grab a PCI-E socket 939 board from Ebay for £40 and splurge the rest on x1950. You'll do just fine.

If you are looking to upgrade within the next 6 months, either limit yourself to an £100 budget or save, save, save. But I'm sure you know this :P

1. Yes
2. No
3. (guessing) No

Get the X1950 Pro, cost is about the same as the PCIe variant and performance is the same. Or wait for the 8600 AGP and get that.

You have to post your scores FIRST DAve.

Yeah, a graphics benchmark thread is a great idea. We could just make this *the* benchmark thread with both superpi and 3d mark scores as DAve suggested. I'm happy for someone else to take over updating the table, anyway :P Each entry should require a single screenshot with finished results from all tests and detailed CPU-Z stats showing. I'll try to do some benchmarks sometime this week.

not really.

Odd questions, considering you sold me the motherboard, Jan ;)

Spot on :)
I had my eye on that specifically, but wanted to know roughly what I could expect from that, in a graphics boost.

another requirement is that you post your system specs guys, pointless otherwise :)
