Yeah, I need a new mouse....so can someone recommend me one? I'm not looking for an all singing all dancing gaming mouse, just a 2 or 3 button wheel mouse with a GOOD MOUSE WHEEL. I want a nice clicky mouse wheel cos I use it for weapon change is FPS games, so a good notchy one. Any suggestions? As cheap as poss obviously :)

Logitech G5. End of, best mouse on the planet.

If not Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.

Intellimouse looks like a good shout, the G5 is really more money than I'd ever spend on a mouse. Tbh my current mouse cost £2.50 so the intellimouse is also a bit of a leap....but i guess its worthwhile expenditure.

Thats a picture of a guy with a mouse, and a caption saying BF2 raffle winners. That doesn't in fact explain whats involved in ME getting a free mouse....

Yega already gave me a coupla good suggestions, if I have to buy one I reckon I'll probs go for the IntelliMouse. However I'm still interested in the notion of a free mouse....and nobody has really explained the deal with that yet.

Intellimouse. However, you own a Mac so the cable might catch fire with the old Microsoft vs. Apple competition, and you'll have to throw away your mouse, and take your Mac back to a "Certified Mac Repair Centre" where they will charge £400 to wave bits of goat and rabbits feet and insence at it to exorcise what they believe to be a demon inside *their* machine.

Tell me, did you feel good walking out of that Apple shop carrying a box of expensive propreitary hardware and superstitions? Did a hymn sheet of "Out, demons, Out!" come 'complementary'?

Seriously though, get an intellimouse.

Although you could try Apple's new discovery... Scrollwheels!

Wellllll I didn't walk out of anywhere with it, I ordered it online in order to get the 15% education discount. And yes I will grant you the Apple Centers are a rip off. Still my laptop comes with instructions *gasp* about how to upgrade the RAM yourself!!! It does have big red type advising you to get an authorised engineer to do it, but at least they tell you how. I think I shall indeed be buying the Intellimouse Explorer 3. In black. Shinyness.

You mean they let you open the cases now? Last time i looked, they seemed to be specifically designed to not be opened by anything short of a diamond-tipped jackhammer and an elephant.

The Mac Intellimouse drivers are actually better than the Windows drivers, in that on any mac I used my mouse all the buttons were available from the moment it was detected. Whereas on any Windows based PC you have to make weird chanting noises and sacrafice the nearest virgin to get the damn thing to realise you have more than 3 buttons. (not quite true, it's not done that since Win 98 SE but the story is quite funny I think)

Same with my Digital Camera - on a mac, you plug it in, it automatically opens iPhoto and works, no driver installation at all. On windows, you have to install a bunch of crappy Sony Software before you can do jack with it. Macs have very good peripheral driver support in my experience.

That's not strictly true. Most of the time with peripherals I've found you can use them without all the extra bells and whistles. You just have to use generic Micro$oft programs.

Much like the generic Mac products on a Mac (with the exception being that as noone else releases for Mac, Mac actually make good products where M$ decide to leave that to more talented individuals)
