3 v 3 Counter-Strike Source Tournament at March LAN

We’ve got something in our front pocket for YOU!
Sid and gor at popular request bring you the March LAN 3v3 Counter-Strike Source tournament. Firstly thanks to all that made the February LAN tournament such a success. Well done to all participants. Here are some pointers for those unsure about entering/ re-entering:
Swiss tournament structure – Play your own skill the idea is a little competitive play with your mates, against opponents of similar skill (one match out of x matches is potentially a skill gap).
With this in mind we would encourage friends to team together, for sociability and comradely in the competition. We'd hope that people pick a team of 3 friends, rather than trying to group together the best players.
I would ask a Team Captain to be selected from each team (this person does not have to be the “best player”. I can select the person if required); this is for two reasons; the first, so that the admins can communicate effectively with each team (Team Captain has the minor task of making sure his team is on the server at the given time and reporting the final score at the allocated area. Not much to ask, really), the second; is if the team is particularly interested in organising attack and defence prior to the match (not all people are bothered, which is fine), team captain can marshal his team into positions, and if fitting call in-game. “Marshalling” of teams is not necessary, ‘run and gun’ action will have its place. (If any team wishes some basic advice on a server prior to the LAN, pm sid or gor)
Tournament Structure
Maps
Round 1: de_nuke
Round 2: de_aztec
Round 3: de_dust2
Final: Decided between the two teams.
Matches
The system in which teams play each other (Swiss, brackets, groups, etc.) will be determined after all the teams have been registered. Although after the success of the Swiss system last LAN, it is most likely to be used.
Rules
The style of the Swiss tournament system is first round; random draw, and following rounds each team will be pitted against another team who has done as well (or as poorly) as themselves (where winners are pitted against winners, losers are pitted against losers and so on). The final is determined by the 2 teams with the most points after the x number of rounds.
The tournament will begin at 8pm on March 10th. We will provide the server IP to the team captains (through announcement, projector or handout) at which point the teams will join the servers. Server admins will start and – where possible - monitor games. After a game is over, the winning team leader will inform an admin. Any dispute as to which team won will be dealt with accordingly by admins. Each round will be 15 seconds buy time and 1:45 of playing time (total of 2 min rounds). Once again, we will only be in communication with the team captains.
Knife fights should be used to choose sides. Pistols should be kept and the bomb should be dropped at Terrorist spawn. If you fire a weapon/nade/flash and hit a member of the opposite team then your side loses the knife fight.
Each game will have 12 round each half and all 24 rounds must be played. Rules are simple - 1 point for a win, 0 for a lose. The teams with the most points will play in the final. In the event of a tied finish - the amount of rounds won by your team is totalled and the highest number of rounds wins. In the event of a team leaving early before all 24 rounds are played, the other team receives the remainder of the rounds.
In the event of a 12-12 draw in the final, teams will play one overtime of 3 rounds with $10000 startmoney. The team that won knives can choose which side they start overtime. The first team to win 2 rounds is the winner.
In the event of a team no showing for their scheduled match, after 10 minutes an admin may decide to award a default 24-0 victory to the other team.
Further Information
Voice Communication: Ventrilo server will be available with specific team channels. Ventrilo installer location and details will be made known on the day.
Messaging: The use of messagemode 1, otherwise known as MM1 (that is, comments that can be seen by all players in the server), is sanctioned only in the case of the team leader and should be used sparingly.
Pausing a Match: no match should require a pause in the middle of play; team leaders may use the pause feature ONCE for a 2 minute period at the start of a round if necessary.
Map Exploits: The use of any exploits in a match should be avoided. This includes: defusing the bomb through an object where the bomb is not visible, Reaching map areas through the clipping of walls, floors, roofs, and/or any other normal perimeters, whether by boosting or other means. And using an acquired position to view areas through or over walls. In all cases, the admins will make final determination on whether something is an exploit.
